Description

Supermassive black holes (SMBHs) are among the most powerful energy sources in the Universe due to enormous energy stored in their spins. However, efficient extraction of this mechanical energy requires interactions of SMBHs with magnetic fields of external origin. In this talk I will discuss the role of black hole spin and magnetic field on the acceleration of charged matter for chosen 25 nearby SMBH candidates in relation to the ultra-high-energy cosmic rays, relativistic jets and hot-spots.
